The town of Noale in Venice, Italy along with its fifteen thousand residents is synonymous with Aprilia. The Italian bike maker which one of the seven entities of the Piaggio Group since 2004, is world renowned for its super bikes. Piaggio chairman Roberto Colaninno took over Aprilia as part of a strategic acquisition plan to consolidate their position as the European leader in the two wheeler segment. The company now has a huge model range from 50cc mopeds and scooters to 1000cc super sport machines.

Aprilia has two manufacturing facilities currently. The first one is the one at Noale which was established by Albert Beggio after the Second World War, and another one Scorzè. There is an interesting story behind the Noale factory. It was actually a bicycle factory that Alberto had made. It was his son Ivano Beggio who converted it into a moped factory in the year 1968. The first bike manufactured under the Aprilia name was a blue and gold 50cc model. The 1970, 50cc Scarebeo Motocrosser was responsible for establishing the Aprilia brand in the market. It was made to achieve to nurture the passion of motorbikes harbored by Ivano.

The Aprilia range currently has fifteen Street Bikes that range from 50cc to 1000cc. there are different models in this range. Some of them have a total sport faring while others are naked mean machines. Aprilia also has three adventure series bikes all of which have a 650cc power house and seven Off-road bikes which use 50cc or 125cc engines in the bike range. Scooters are available in 50cc, 125cc, and 300cc variants. There is also an option of two-stroke and four-stroke engines. Apart from the above range the signature Scarabeo’s are available in basic 50cc street models to sporty 300’s and 500’s. All of them are available in attractive color finishes and boast of the best designs. Their ergonomic seats ensure comfort for both the rider and also the pillion.

Racing has been in Aprilia’s blood and they have scored 339 racing victories till date. This figure is the total of WSBK Championship, SBK 125 and also the Off-Road Races. Max Biaggi, the world famous super bike racer from the Aprilia Alitalia racing team, set the record straight for Aprilia by getting the ninth victory in the 2010 World SBK Championship. HE is now 68 points ahead of his closest competitor.This victory also consolidated Aprilia’s standing in the manufacturer’s points as it took them 82 points over Ducati and 53 over Suzuki.
