Falcon Motorcycles and Motor Scooters
Falcon Motorcycles is a motor cycle manufacturing company based in Los Angeles, California. Established in 1998 by custom bike manufacturer Ian Barry and his fiancée Amaryllis Knight, the company specializes in manufacturing custom made motor cycles. These bikes are built around engines from vintage pre and post war British motorcycles such as the Norton or the Vincent. Head fabricator Ian Barry has had over 10 years of designing custom made motor cycles with an impressive clientele that include actor Giovanni Ribisi and rock star Josh Homme. The vision of the company and its chief fabricator Ian Barry is to create bikes that could have existed but were not manufactured by the original companies.
In 2008, Falcon Motor Cycles unveiled their first custom made model; the Bullet won the award for the best custom made motor cycle at the 2008 Legend of the Motor Cycle International Concours d’Elegance. Taking over a year to manufacture, with more than a thousand man hours invested by the six man team, the Bullet is inspired from the Board Track racer. It was commissioned by actor and skateboarder Jason Lee and is built on the frame and engine of a 1950 Triumph Thunderbird. Ian Barry spruced up the original frame by adding 3 inches to the frame and adding 100cc to the original 650 cc of the bike. The other parts of the bike are crafted from raw blocks of reclaimed metal with the refurbishing of every single part of the existing model.
The Kestrel Falcon was the second bike in the collection which was built around a Triumph Bonneville of 1970. It was revealed to the public at the 2010 Quail Motor Cycle Gathering in California where it won the best Custom Motor Cycle by Dice Magazine. Taking over 2000 man hours to manufacture it is a re-engineered marvel, with apart from some parts of the original Triumph machine and some parts from BSA was manufactured completely in-house with all the parts being crafted by the Falcon team.
There are seven other available models- The White, The Altai, The Merlin, The Peregrine, The Grey, The Saker and The Vespertine. These are respectively built around the engines and frames of the vintage British bikes 1967 Velocette Thruxton, Ariel Square 4, 1936 Norton ‘International’, ‘Ajay cammies’, BSA Gold Star, Rudge and a Brough Superior. These models are available now with the sold ones being the Bullet, The Kestrel and the Black Falcon.
