Geely automobile is the first self-governing and biggest private automobile company situated at Taizhou, Zhejiang. This car manufacturing company began its operation of car development in the year 1986. The company signed an agreement with Ford Motor Company and acquired Volvo Cars on March 28, 2010. The company started manufacturing refrigerators in the year 1986 and later they moved on to decoration materials in the year 1989. In the year 1992, the year company started manufacturing motorcycle parts. And consequently, the company started building motorcycles in the year 1994. In just two years, the company had developed 200,000 scooters and motorcycles. In the year 2003, the company manufactured its very own car.

Geely Company is into the manufacturing of a series of cars. Some of the well known series are as Jingying, Merrie, Xinongmao, Yanjing, Zhonguo, Ziyoujian and Gleagle. Geely applies following body types in their cars: Sedan, HTB, Station Wagon, Coupe, Roadster, Van and Cabrio.

Cabrio is the body type used for convertible cars. Their engines are also made with various capacity denoted as R-in line, V type, Boxer, W type, Wankel engine and literally placed engine. Under some recent developments, Geely Company has signed up a deal with Ford Motors. This company got a contract with Ford in the mid 2008 which is going to expire in the third quarter of 2010. According to that deal, Geely was to be a preferred buyer of Volvo cars legally from October 28, 2009. The worth of the last agreement signed with Ford Motors was roughly around $1.8 million.

Geely sold around 329100 cars in the year 2009. Early products of this company are based on Xiali TJ7300. Later onwards, the company did changes in its model and manufactured these in sync with the latest technology. In fact, Geely is one of those companies which upgrade their technology on regular basis and do various alterations in their in manufacturing units. The latest series of this company is Gleagle and it’s having variations in models. This series contain the cars with 1.3 liter engine and 1.0 liter engine.

Geely also manufactures an electric vehicle in form of cabs of Geely in London that are converted to electric powered cars. The company also manufactures scooters and motorcycles in the range of 50 to 250 cc displacement. Geely Company is also known as the first Chinese company which designed automatic transmission back in March 2005.
