MZ Scooters
MZ Scooters was founded in 1922 in Zschopau, Germany. Initially, the factory was involved in manufacturing equipments for sports bikes. In 1928, MZ Scooters bought an old Audi factory and in 1929 they rolled out 60,000 motorcycles for sale. Since then, they have been producing various motorcycles and scooters. In 2008, the MZ Scooters decided to shut down its Zschopau factory due to the continuous losses sustained by their investors. In 2009, two former GP players reportedly bought that factory for 5 million Euros.
Among the various two wheeler series rolled out by MZ, scooters are specifically sold under the tag name of Moskito. The 2005 Moskito Classico has a single cylinder 2 stroke air cooled engine. This scooter runs on gas with a fuel capacity of Moskito Classico is 5.3 liters. It comes with a variable transmission, hydraulic disc brakes (front tire) and drum brakes for rear tire. Another model of the same series is Moskito SX. It comes with an electric start system and a rear wheel belt drive. MZ also provides a 12 month warranty with all its scooter range. Another scooter from the stable of this company is MZ Moskito 125R, which happens to be the costliest scooter in the Moskito series. It is priced at $2395. It has a single cylinder four stroke engine. The engine is air cooled and has continuous variable transmission. The fuel tank capacity is 6.1 liters and the engine runs on gas. The rear wheel is propelled through belt drive. The front tire has hydraulic disc brakes and rear wheel has regular drum brakes. MZ Moskito 125R comes with a 12 months warranty and electric ignition system.
The 2005 Moskito RX has a single cylinder 2 stroke air cooled engine. This scooter’s engine runs on gas and the fuel capacity of Moskito RX is 5.3 liters. It is available at a price of $1995. It comes with a continuously variable transmission and hydraulic disc brakes for front tire and drum brakes for rear tire. It has an electric starter and a wheel base of 46 inches. It comes with a 12 month warranty. MZ Moskito Base is almost similar to Moskito RX in all the technical specifications except it is priced slightly lower than RX. A Moskito Base scooter can be purchased for $1795.
