Tomos Scooters and Mopeds Manufacturer

Tomos is a manufacturer of scooters and mopeds. The company is based out of Koper, Slovenia and has been in operation since 1954. The company got its name from an acronym for Tovarna Motornih, which is Slovenian for Motorcycle Company. The company produces and manufacturers a majority of its scooters and mopeds in Europe. A good number of them are prepared at a facility in the Dutch town of Epe.

The company also works to export its scooters and mopeds to a variety of authorized dealers all over the world. The company has its own American headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina.

Tomos is noted for being one of the world’s largest exporters of mopeds. More mopeds that get into the United States come from Tomos than any other moped manufacturer in the world.

The mopeds are popular in that they can be found in one of two different options. Many Tomos mopeds can be found in pedal forms. These pedal mopeds work in that they are started with a pedal that is used to get the moped to be kick started. Other mopeds can be used as versions with foot pegs alongside a kick start.

The country had been a part of Yugoslavia for years but has since become independent after the country ceased to operate and divided itself up.
