Three wheel motor scooters were first manufactured in India and have become extremely popular in Asian and European countries. They are larger than the regular two wheel motor scooters, and they can fit up to three or four people. Some are designed to be closer to miniature trucks, which make them ideal to transport items. For example, in Rome, many of the people who sell items on the street can be seen carrying their goods and booth from place to place in the back of a three wheel motor scooter. They get good gas mileage, which makes them more affordable than a car. They are also small and easy to maneuver in traffic, which means they are also easy to part on the street. All of those considerations make them more practical in a busy urban environment. Hence their popularity.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that they are practical, popular, affordable, and versatile, they are not currently available in the United States. Too small and slow for highway travel, and too bulky for most city driving, Americans haven’t really created a demand for this type of vehicle. However, with fuel getting more expensive all the time and more and more people seeking out cheap alternatives, it is extremely possible that we will begin seeing three wheel motor scooters in America’s cities. Especially since they are not only cheap and cheap to fuel, they are also extremely convenient. In fact, they would even be ideal for certain professions, like housekeeping in large complexes, hauling items at construction sites, and performing maintenance.
